HITS AND MEMORIES
Cork's 96FM plays a musical mix of hits and memories on 96.4MHz FM in the city and surrounding areas, and on various frequencies between 95.6 and 96.8MHz FM in the County. They also provide news and current affairs output with a strong local emphasis.

96FM (along with sister station 103FM) are owned by UTV, the Northern Irish media group, following their takeover of County Media in 2001.

Ireland is in the middle of election fever. This little gem was hidden away inside the Independent: Word reaches me of an unseemly spat between the PDs and Cork radio station 96FM. Interviewer Neil Prendeville gave Mary Harney a right roasting over the party's treatment of the city. Local PD candidate John Minihan was fuming afterwards, but his request to defend the party's record on air with Prendeville was rebuffed. Canvassing outside a shopping centre, Minihan was still berating 96FM. His protestations fell on deaf ears - when he unwittingly canvassed support from the presenter's mother.
