Independent radio news provider INN is to close at the end of the month. The company, which employs 16 people, has been operating with unsustainable losses due to a collapse in advertising revenue leading to today's announcement by CEO John O'Connor.

The company provided news services to the majority of the country's independent radio stations. It has been in operation for 12 years and is owned by 16 independent radio station shareholders.

The new Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has indicated that it will enter into talks with local stations regarding the future provision of news services.
