96FM & C103 CONTINUE TO RULE CORK 11th February 2010
Cork’s 96FM/C103 continue to be the most listened to radio station in Cork according to the latest independent audience figures. The JNLR figures for the 12 month period to the end of December 2009 show that 50% (197,000) of people in Cork city and county listen to the stations each day. This is a slight increase on the last set of figures three months ago. The average quarter hour audience – a crucial measurement for advertisers – is now at just over 57,000 and is the highest of any local radio station in Ireland. The figures also show that the daily listenership to Neil Prendeville’s show on Cork’s 96FM at 106,000 is the highest of any local radio talk show in the country.

Chief Executive, Kieran McGeary, says, "These figures show a slight increase in our market share to 45%. What we have seen over the past 12 months is listening to all radio in Cork has increased, fuelled by an appetite for more information about the economy and the flooding which hit the city and county. With that in mind our increase in share over the past three months is a great achievement and shows that we are taking more of the listening pie."

The JNLR figures also highlight that 68% (270,000) adults in Cork city and county tune in to Cork’s 96FM & C103 each week.
