Newstalk offers weekend slot to lure Dunphy back on the air

The Herald can reveal that station bosses have contacted the outspoken RTE pundit to lure him back with an offer of a weekend programme.
The former footballer left Newstalk in 2006 after presenting the Breakfast Show for two years.
He said at the time that the demands of the morning programme precluded him from getting involved in other projects, which he had intended to complete.
When contacted today, Dunphy said he had no comment to make.
"No comment, I'm sorry. I don't have any comment because there isn't anything to comment on," the RTE football pundit said, before adding: "At the moment, there's nothing to comment on."
However, it is understood Newstalk contacted Dunphy within the last number of weeks but no firm offer has been made.
It was believed to have been a tentative inquiry and another meeting is to take place.
Dunphy, who is one of RTE's main football pundits, has a busy summer ahead as the World Cup kicks off in South Africa.
When he left Newstalk the first time, he said of his decision: "Because it's a morning show (the Breakfast Show), it's very, very demanding and I wanted to assess after two years whether to continue... I'm looking forward to staying under the duvet until 7.30am for a change."
