Thomas Crosbie Holdings Ltd acquires majority stake in two more radio stations

19th April 2007

Thomas Crosbie Holdings Ltd has acquired a 75 per cent shareholding in Beat 102-103, the successful regional radio station in the southeast and WLR FM, the Waterford based regional station. The transactions are subject to approval by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland and the Competition Authority. No changes to management and staffing are envisaged.

Anthony Dinan, Group Managing Director, Thomas Crosbie Holdings Ltd., said the group is delighted to further expand its broadcasting interests by acquiring a majority stake in both Beat 102-103 and WLRFM..

“Beat 102-103 is now such an established part of the Irish media landscape that it is hard to believe that it is only onair since July 2003. The station has blazed a trail for regional broadcasting and captured a strong market share, especially among its target audience of 15- to 34-year-olds in the southeast.

“WLR FM has consistently been among the leading independent radio stations in Ireland in terms of programming standards, audience share and business performance.

“This represents an excellent opportunity for TCH to acquire a valuable asset that fits well with our existing business interests. We are particularly fortunate to have people of the calibre and experience of the current management team in place to lead the radio station forward,” said Mr Dinan.

Thomas Crosbie Holdings Limited, Ireland’s fastest growing media group, comprises eighteen newspapers - the Irish Examiner, the Evening Echo, the Waterford News & Star, the Western People, the Sligo Weekender, The Kingdom, the Newry Democrat, the Down Democrat, the Nationalist and Leinster Times, the Kildare Nationalist, the Laois Nationalist, The Sunday Business Post, Roscommon Herald, Enniscorthy Echo, New Ross Echo, Gorey Echo, Wexford Echo and The Irish Post.

TCH also has an electronic media division Thomas Crosbie Media which comprises Motornet.ie , Breaking News.ie, Golfonline.ie, Rugby.ie and RecruitIreland.com.

TCH also has 36% shareholding in Red Fm in Cork and 15% in Mid West radio in Mayo.
